2008 Caoimhín Vallely asked me whether I'd be interested to do a poster for the piping festival. This coincided with my getting frustrated with the entirely virtual nature of my work: websites and digital photographs. Going into print meant I had to learn quite a few new things, in which Jeremy Trimble turned out to be a great help, but it also meant I could finally touch and feel the results of my work. It's very satisfying to see boxes filled with leaflets or stickers that were made by you, printed off in their thousands...
After that poster more posters followed. And leaflets. And programmes, CDs, stickers, tickets, t-shirts and much more. All printed very professionally by Trimprint, Armagh. Below are a few samples of what I've done so far.
As I don't know where else to put it, I'll also mention the multimedia presentation here. It's a twenty minute presentation that highlights the diversity of the bagpipes in image and sound. Entirely made in Flash, exported as a movie and there's even a DVD... Very proud of that one.
"Junctions - New Traditional Music Encounters" is a series of concerts taking place in the Pavilion in Cork City featuring collaborations between some of most exciting and innovative traditional musicians from across the globe.
Boris was born in 2009 and he now features in most publications I do for the festival, especially the sticker is very popular. He originally comes from an old communist poster, pointing towards a brighter future, and I stuck a set of pipes in his hand.
